Benalmadena Cable Cars: A bird’s eye view
On the first part of the route we will have views of Arroyo de la Miel and Benalmádena Costa, two of the population nuclei that make up Benalmádena. As we move further away up into the skies of the Costa del Sol, the landscape transforms itself into a unique panorama of Benalmádena, revealing the outline of the Malaga coast and presenting a unique landscape, enabling us to see how the blue of the sea merges into the blue of the sky. What’s more, the side of the Calamorro Mountain provides an extensive representation of the botanical wealth of this typically Mediterranean area, which has species of great ecological interest such as Zahareña (sideritis incana) Rockrose, Thyme, Lilies, Round-leaved Mint, Cantuero or Marjoram. The route finishes at the Benalmadena Cable Cars arrival station, located at 769 metres altitude above sea level. But the adventure is not over; once we leave the cable car, now at the summit of the Calamorro, a variety of leisure facilities await us together with the opportunity to continue contemplating the Málaga coastline and our surroundings. The summit has a number of perfectly signed paths which lead to viewing points at different heights and with very different views. Some provide landscapes of the Málaga coastline, both to the east and to the west, while others offer incredible views of the mountain peaks that surround Málaga, of particular note the imposing outline of Sierra Nevada. Clear days provide a unique view of Gibraltar and the African Coast. And always, with “a bird’s eye view”.
